It took me close to 6 years to finish school. It can take less time (2 years) but that’s usually for those that are automatically good at court reporting. WebStenography is HARD. Getting up to 225 words per minute and getting certified (really, a must) takes at least two years and a lot of practice. And court reporters do a lot of work. They're taking proceedings/depositions and then they have to go home and do the transcripts (unless they have a scopist do them).
